Hello everyone, My name is Norihito Ishii, a Butoh dancer.

Currently, I belongs to the Butoh group "Sankai Juku" and Disseminating the charm of Butoh to the world.

The global pandemic does not seem to be settled, and the world is becoming more and more anxious.

This time I will create and provide new works through crowdfunding, I want people to find time to relax and take a deep breath.

In addition, by systematizing and communicating a unique method related to "weakness", I want to relieve the tension that you have both physically and mentally.

In the new Butoh "KUCHITE NAO", the motif is the Kusōzu of Buddhist paintings. It is a work that evokes universal emotions with the theme of "view of life and death" that every human being has, such as "what is life?", "Why do we exist", and "where are we going?"

"Death next to life" We are not particularly conscious of it in our daily lives. After death, animals and plants return to the soil, which is the source of another new life. Even if the body perishes, it remains in someone's memory. "KUCHITE NAO" expresses the body after death as a "non-moving dance" based on the Kusōzu. It is such a work that asks "and how do you live now?"

As long as we are alive, we are repulsive to gravity and always live in tension.And to live in a capitalist society, we are constantly forced to do our best mentally.

The most important thing for me to dance Butoh is to "remove extra power and move the body with the minimum amount of energy."

When the tension of the body is released, the tension of the mind is naturally released, and it becomes possible to maximize the performance that human beings originally have.

In "Relaxing", we will bring out the potential of each person's body and tell you the secret to doing the maximum action with the minimum energy.

For those of us who live in a stressful society, liberation from strength is the most important thing for us to live happily both physically and mentally.

In the video, in addition to the technical part, I will also tell you how to concentrate on one thing as an artist.

Norihito Ishii

Choreographer / Butoh Dancer / Artistic Director of DEVIATE.CO

Ishii was Born in 1984 in Tokyo, Japan.
He started street dancing at the age of 17 and won prizes in various dance contests. After working as a back dancer for many artists and as a dancer for commercials and theme parks, he moved to the stage in 2006.

Since 2007, he has been working as a solo artist, and continues to create performing arts works that question the truth of society by working on the human psyche with the concept of the madness and universal beauty that resides in the modern human body.

In 2010, he became a member of Sankai Juku, a butoh company that has performed in over 700 cities in 45 countries around the world, with the Theatre de la Ville de Paris, the temple of contemporary dance, as its creative base. In recent years, he has also taken on solo parts in "UNETSU" and "HIBIKI.

In 2013, he was awarded the Jury Prize, the overall runner-up at the time, at the Seoul International Choreography Festival. Since then, she has performed again in many countries including Korea, Israel, and Singapore.

In 2015, he received the SCF Award, the overall runner-up award at the same festival. He became the first person to win the award twice.
