Celebrate over 100 years history

This Festival has continued for about 100 years in Imari shrine in Imari city, Saga prefecture, Kyushu.
In this festival, two portable shrines clash bravely with the sound of "ton ten ton", the drums.

Two shrins clash in Imari city!

Passionate people are divided in two teams and two teams carry two portable shrines, “Mikoshi” and “Danjiri”.
They clash in some spots of Imari city for the festival.
The clash is very exciting. You don’t want to miss it!

The climax “Kawaotoshi” makes you impressed!

This is the final battle of “Mikoshi” and “Danjiri”.
The shrines grapple and fall into the Imari River together. After that, the team who pulls up the shrine first, wins the battle.

About IMARI

IMARI beaf

 This beef is grown in Imari and has won many awards in Japanese beef contests.
 The quality of meat is soft, fatty and delicious. And the color of meat is bright and the sweetness and flavor are great.

IMARI Yaki (plates)

 This plate is also local to Imari and has been made since 17th century.
 That plate been made before 19th century is called “Old Imari”, and there are many collectors of it in the world.
 In Imari city, you can try to customize and add colors to that plates.

Historic building

 In Imari city, there are still the traces of 17th century.
 This picture was taken near the spot where Imari Yaki was made.It was full of a national historic site.
 In addition to this, there are many historic buildings in this city.

From Fukuoka Airport

By Bus 

 We recommend to take buses called “Imari go” for Imari at Fukuoka airport bus terminal and then get off at Imari Station stop.
(Total time is about 2 hours)

by train

 We recommend to use Fukuoka city subway for Meinohama from Fukuoka Airport Station to Hakata Station,
and use Sasebo line for Sasebo Station from this station to Arita station, and change to Matsuura railway for Imari.

After that, get off at Imari station.
(Total time is about 2hours)

From Saga airport

Take Access Bus to Saga Station at KYUSHU-SAGA International AIRPORT Bus terminal.
 And then take Sasebo line for Sasebo from Saga station to Arita station, and change to Matsuura railway for Imari.

After that, get off at Imari station.
(Total time is 80 minutes)

From Nagasaki station

Take Nagasaki Airport Limousine Bus for Omura at Nagasaki Airport Bus terminal and get off at Omura bus terminal.
 Walk to Omura station(3 minutes)
and take Omura line for Sasebo to Haiki station.
 And then change to Sasebo line for Tosu to Arita station, and change to Matsuura railway for Imari and then get off at Imari station.
