Paint Nature Scene with a Sumi-e Master


Hello, I am a Certified Sumi-e Master and you will have an incredible experience not only drawing Sumi-e at my workshop in my studio, but also discovering the Japanese lifestyle.
I have been a Sumi-e master since 2013. I studied at a horticulture school and at Kyoto University of Art and Design. However, I draw Sumi-e not only with Indian ink but also with color.I would love to share my horticultural Sumi-e world with you.

We will pick you up at YOGA station, about ten minutes from Shibuya via subway, and walk on ‘’Yoga Promenade’’ designed by one of the most famous architectural offices in Japan, ‘’Atelier Zo’’. You will enjoy flowers in the season of plums and cherry-blossoms, hear the sound of the stream, and find the poems from ‘’Hyakunin Isshu’’( Japanese poem cards) at the road.There is a bamboo grove, which I will teach you how to draw. The promenade ends at my studio.

You will learn brush strokes and methods in traditional Sumi-e style and complete your Sumi-e work, usually drawing bamboos. In addition, you will practice your name and Japanese year number in “Shodo” (Japanese calligraphy) and put them on your Sumi-e work. It is a wonderful  Japanese art experience and a survenir for yourself.

 

ITINERARY

13:30  Meet up at YOGA station, Denentoshi line.
1 hour or so
 Head to the studio by walking on ‘’Yoga Promenade’’ seeing the bamboo grove at ‘’Kinuta Park’’.
1.5 hour About  and a 2 hour

Workshop at the studio: drawing bamboos with Indian ink and practicing Japanese characters in “Shodo” to complete your Sumi-e work.

 We will take you to the bus stop heading to Sangenjaya station  Denentoshi line and Shibuya station.
About  １hour and a 1.5hour
 You will draw bamboos in the studio with Indian ink.
Workshop fee: JPY6,500per person
