What is AP House4?

AP House 4 is a dorm for exchange students and graduate students located in central beppu.

There are many students from not only Asia but also Europe, America and other countries.

APハウス４は別府の中心地にある交換生、大学院生の為の寮です。

APハウス４の寮にはアジアだけでなく、ヨーロッパやアメリカ、その他たくさんの国の学生が多く在寮しています。

RAs plan and carry out exchange events for residents to promote exchange the residents not only their floor mates but also other floor residents.

各フロアの寮生とだけでなく、他の階の寮生との交流を促す為にイベントを企画、実行しています。

Floor manage and operation is one of the most important duty for RA.
There are wide range of roles such as Junkai, planning implementation of exchange event etc.

担当するフロアの管理や運営は重要なRAの仕事です。
寮内巡回や寮生の支援・指導、交流イベントの実施など多岐にわたります。

Welcoming new residents
新寮生受け入れ

Most of new residents have never experienced living in Japan.During Welcoming new residents , they support the new residents to hold a guidance to tell them important information to live in AP House4 and translating , answering questions.

ほとんどの新寮生は日本で生活するのが初めてです。
新入生のウェルカム期間中は、RAは新寮生へ向けたAPハウス４に住む上での大事な情報を伝える為のガイダンスや通訳、新寮生の問い合わせに答えることで彼らをサポートします。

RA Meeting

RA hold RA meeting twice a month in AP House4.
This meeting serves the purpose of information exchange among RAs.
RAs discuss current conditions in AP House and future challenges and plans and request.

APハウス４ではRAが月２回ミーティングを行います。
RAの情報交換を目的に開催されており、寮内の現状や今後の課題、計画や要望などについて話合いを行います。

RAs will be awarded a monthly RA scholarship of 14,000 yen during the RA term.

RA期間中は奨学金として14,000円/月支給されます。

Eligibility
応募資格
Students can apply anytime from their first semester at APU
(to become an RA from second semester)
Graduate students are also eligible.

第1セメスターの学生から申請可能です。（２セメスターよりRA)
大学院生も応募いただけます。

Kunu(Japan)

RAとして活動する上で感じたことを一言で言うならば、それは”多様性”です。RAの仲間達はもちろん、寮生、管理人さん、そしてオフィスの方々、全てが多様性にとんでいます。自分の意見を持ってダメなものはダメとはっきりと言えるRAがいたり、寮生と本当の家族のように寄り添えるRAもいたり、何かイベントがあると雰囲気を盛り上げることができるRAもいたりします。APハウス4は本当にたくさんの価値観や考え方が詰まった空間です。その中で、自分はどんなRAでいられるのか、RA間でも自分はどんな役割を果たすことができるのかを考えることができる場所でもありました。寮生のサポートという経験を通して、自分と向き合い成長できる場であり続けたいです。

At the same time, it helps you improve your communication skill, leadership ability and your general management capability. Being an RA for AP House 4, I can communicate with the exchange and graduate students and can know their perspective of doing things. RA活動を通し、寮生との交流はもとよりオフィスの方や管理人さん、国や文化を越えた寮生間の交流や様々な立場の方と出会う事がでます。また、寮生活を送る過程を別府市の中心地で過ごすことが出来き、学生生活を送る上で非常に恵まれた環境です。APハウス４は居住者のほとんどが院生や交換生です。基本的に1人が1フロアを担当し、RAは全体で8人という少人数体制で日々のRA業務をみんなで協力して行います。RA１人ひとりが担う責任やプレッシャーは大きいですが、自分の働き掛けで寮生からの信頼や感謝された時、更には何より寮生の笑顔を確認出来たときにこの上ない達成感を得ることが出来ます。

We, the Resident Assistants are here to make AP House 4 a welcoming and comfortable "home" in Japan by conducting everyday guidance and support. As our residents are either exchange students or masters’ students, their daily interaction is with us which also gives us the opportunity to portray the Japanese culture and lifestyle to the best of our abilities. APH4 seems to be the most "APU" environment in terms of diversity and we reside under one roof together and become one big family every semester.
This helps us be a multicultural melting pot, consisting of a rich, individuality and understanding community.
Moreover, working as a RA gives us the opportunity to improve and encourages us to work more efficiently and responsibly. As we realize our importance being the bridge that connects the residents with the APH office, the security office and also the local citizens of Beppu we have huge responsibilities on our shoulders and we are determined to live up it. With our daily interactions with residents who come from all over the world, we strive to create a comfortable and respectful atmosphere for everyone. This in turn also helps us RA’s to gain a wider
perspective and helps us have more deeper and meaningful friendships from people who come from different parts of the world.
