Greeting

はじめまして。
Greetings everyone.

AIUEO のMikiです。
My name is Miki from AIUEO.


わたしが 日本語を教えようと 思ったのは、
わたし自身が 英会話を学び、
「 心が伝わる、分かり合える喜び」を体験したからです。
The reason as to how I decided to take up teaching the Japanese language goes back to when I was studying English myself. Through the journey of learning, I have had the opportunity to experience “the joy of understanding each other, via mind-to-mind”.


わたしは ネイティブの先生から 英会話を学んでいました。
I used to study English conversations from a native English speaker.

レッスンを続けていくうちに、
As I continued my lessons,

英語の映画を見て 分かる言葉が 増えていたことに 気づいた時
I started to notice that I was able to understand more words when I was watching movies.

「やっとここまで来た！」と、手ごたえ や 喜び を感じました！
I felt the progress and joy from such learning that “I am finally here!”

その後、外国に短期留学しましたが、
Later on, I would study abroad for a short period of time.

そこで、「自分の意見が 英語で言えなかった」ことがあり、
自信を無くしました。
I faced the challenge of “not being able to voice my opinions in English” and I lost confidence over the experience.


「自分の 国との 文化や 生活の 違い」
“Differences in cultures and ways of living from my own country”

「何も 分からない」
“I do not understand anything”

「誰も 自分に 合わせては くれない」
“No one is going to adjust to me”


まだそれが当たり前とは理解できなかった そんな中、
At the time when I did not know that above things were true,

「自分の 言いたい事が 伝わらない。言えない。」
これが、何より悔しかったです。
it really made me feel down when “No one understands what I want to say. I cannot deliver what I want to say”.



ですが、英語は諦めませんでした。
However, I did not give up on English.

日本に帰国してからも、更に英会話の勉強を続け、
After coming back to Japan, I continued to study English conversations.

「やっぱり英会話は楽しい！」という気持ちで、レッスンを続けています。
I still take my lessons with the feeling that “English conversations is a lot of fun!”.
　


そして、今度は「日本語で伝わる楽しさ」 を、私も外国の人に届けたい！
And this time, I want to share “the joy of being able to communicate in Japanese” to foreigners!

「何も 分からない」 という気持ちは、 私も よく 分かります！
I myself understand the feeling of “I do not understand anything”!


だからこそ、「分からなくて 悔しい！」から、「伝わって 楽しい！」に なって欲しい！
That is why I want you to feel from “I feel down for not understanding anything!” to
“I feel so much fun because I am able to communicate well!”.
　
楽しい！の 1歩を 踏み出す お手伝いがしたい！
