Daisuke Muto

I'm Daisuke Muto from Adventure World, Japan!

I work for a company called AWS and We run a theme park called Adventure World. The park has 1400 animals of 140 species, and I am mainly in charge of the dolphins and the whales. Our company's philosophy is “Smile Company that the moments time by heart”. Based on our corporate philosophy, We create Smiles for the Employee, Smiles for the Guest and Smiles for the Sociaty with the “ Compassion, honest, and positive heart” . The“smile” we say also means fun, joy and happiness. The company's theme is to “realize a bright and prosperous society full of smiles”.

Reason for participate for OYW

Thanks to the great nature, I can enjoy this life as a human being.

Working with animals tells me how beautiful the life is. In the summer, I go surfing in let myself go with thrills and waves.
In winter, I go skiing for the best powder snow. the nature always gives me the joy that is not immeasurable.

I started working at AWS Corporation and learned about SDGs for the firs time,
and then I realized that I had to act not only just to thank but also to protect our important nature.

This is the reason joined OYW to take an initiative that I can do now and what

I can do in the future. I am starting with what we can do for nature, such as beach clean, thorough recycling, and using fair trade products.

My Action

I want to focus on solving plastic pollution for marine.

Plastic is a material with various excellent properties and plays an important role in human life, society and the economy, and has penetrated the entire world.
Currently, over 8 million tons of marine plastic gavere will flow out to the world due to improper disposal, and by 2050, plastic exceeding the weight of fish is expected to flow into the marine environment.

Marine plastic trash endangers the marine ecosystem. It becomes a micro plastic and can be negative influence to our lives.

Status Quo

In Japan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Environment haveset milestones(target figures that are important steps for resolution) and have setpolicies for plastic contamination.

But These policies are hardly known in Japan, and the people is not conscious of the environment.And It is known that the public awareness of SDGs is less than 30%.

Solution

Marine plastic garbage

To change public awareness, I think that the solution is to know the current situation by visualizing the degree of achievement of the purpose.

For example, if milestone achievements appear daily like stock prices, Recognition will rise and will grow.

Visualization is always necessary to know that using no plastic bags can contribute to the earth.

The people are one team, if you can feel that your actions will help you achieve your goals, then there will be fun and the problem will toward be solved.

Let's toward SDGs in Japan

The same can be said about SDGs.　

Through the summit, we would like to launch an application network development project that can learn about the progress of SDGs around the world, including marine plastics issues.It difficult to change awareness and behavior through the annual SGSN report toward achievement.

It is important that we raise awareness and take action, know the degree of achievement and understand the current situation.　

SDGs are opportunities for people around the world to have the same goal for the planet and become teams
It is most important for us to know the current situation toward the goal of 2030 and enjoy it toward the purpose.

Enjoyment is the best driving force for people to act. To that end, I would like to carry out the project and create an environment where everyone living on the earth can enjoy the achievement.

My life philosophy is to “enjoy the most to achieve the best” Let's enjoy what we can do now for a sustainable planet together as one.
