Profile

1994    Debuted as a stage actor. Assisted in the production of performances.

2002     Performed in the Hollywood Premier Parade at Universal Studios Japan (Osaka).

2003    Performed as a character dancer at Shima Spain Village. Practiced juggling.

2006     Obtained Osaka performer’s license; performed in OSAKA Entertainment Festival Cup

2007     Obtained the official Tokyo “Heaven Artist” performer’s license.

Performed as a regular MC on the Michigan, a paddlewheel boat on Lake Biwa.

2008    Performed as a contract entertainer at Universal Studios Japan.

2009    Hosted the FM radio talk show, “Kibito’s Kibi Kibi Talk” (81.4mhz).

2010     Produced a long-running show for a first-class hotel and various shows for theme parks.

            Trained the shows’ performers.

2011     Performed with a theatrical group, and conducted juggling classes at public halls.

2013     Performed at the National Bunraku Theater and in shows on cruise ships.

2015     Studied under the Japanese traditional performing arts master, Lucky Koji.

Joined the Horaiya clan and received the name “Kouki.”

What is DAIKAGURA?

DAIKAGURA is one of Japan’s most traditional performing arts with a history spanning more than 400 years. It originally was a form of entertainment dedicated to the gods of Shinto shrines, but became popularized in the late 19th century when it began appearing in entertainment halls and theaters.

Wearing a kimono and using only simple props, such as knives, a teapot, a ball and a Japanese umbrella, Kouki dazzles audiences of all ages with his amazing feats of balance and skill!

Japanese Umbrella

It is the most famous technique in DAIKAGURA.

On the umbrella, turn a ball, tea cup, ring, wooden box exc.

It is a very congratulating acrobatics.

HITOTSU MARI

Juggle a large ball made by wrapping thread and two sticks.

Some of that is a rare technique that originated in DAIKAGURA and influenced jugglers around the world.

It takes a very long time to master.

Knives

Knives are used to defeat the devil, and to cut a path through the jungle of life.

Tea Pot

DOBIN is teapot in Japanese.

This is the highest peak of skill in DAIKAGURA.

Manipulate the tea pot freely, with a mouth-cappped stick.
This trick is the most impressive highlight.
