BUNSHŌKAN (文翔館)
3-4-51 Hatago-machi, Yamagata City
Bunshōkan is the former Prefectural Capitol Building completed in 1916. A three-story building mainly made of bricks, it has a recognition as an important cultural property. The gardens and staircases inside are great photo spots; to many people Bunshōkan is a symbol for the whole city, and movies are often filmed on its ground.
SENSHIN-AN (洗心庵)
1-4-28 Midori-chō, Yamagata City
The Japanese garden at "Senshin-an" was created by Iwaki Sentarō, the garden designer known for his work in Hotel New Otani Tokyo and Akasaka Palace (a national treasure). Not far from Yamagata City's symbolic "Bunshōkan," this is a place where you can take pictures in front of a Japanese home in traditional atmosphere.

Gura is a new landmark made by a city redevelopment project. Century-old “Kura” old-style warehouses, are renovated with contemporary sensibilities. Two “Kura” are made of stone, a very unusual material for a traditional Japanese building. Here, visitors can enjoy Yamagata's great food, handicraft, and the thriving city life.
GOTENZEKI WATERWAY (御殿堰)

Gotenzeki Waterway is one of the five waterways Mogami Yoshimitsu, the powerful lord of Yamagata, constructed 400 years ago for his castle town. Located in the heart of the city, the newly developed district greets visitors with its history, tradition, and some of the coolest shops and restaurants in Yamagata.
Q1 (pronounced “Q-ichi” in Japanese)

The full name is “Yamagata Creative City Center Q1.” Noted for being Yamagata’s first reinforced concrete school building from 1927, the recent renovation in 2022 made it into an creative platform for prized local businesses in film, music, art, design, traditional crafts, and food culture.
BENI-NO-KURA (紅の蔵)
2-1-8 Tōka-machi, Yamagata City
Beni-no-kura is the former residence of the affluent Hasegawa family who made their fortune through river transport and safflower trade. Now it is a tourist attraction known for the five ""Kura"" warehouses; visitors can casually drop by for sightseeing information, seasonal events, local specialties and traditional vegetables.
NOSHIUME HONPO SATŌYA (乃し梅本舗佐藤屋)
3-10-36 Tōka-machi, Yamagata City
Established in 1821, Satōya is the legendary confectionery that made Noshiume, classic plum jellies, for pilgrims in their long journeys to Mount Gassan. Satōya's Noshiume adopted a Edo-period recipe for traditional medicine, and it used plums that were cultivated for use in safflower dyeing. The famous plum sweets of Mito and Wakayama have their origin in Satōya; today the shop sells both Japanese-style and Western-style sweets.
OTOKOYAMA SAKE BREWERY (男山酒造)
2-4-13 Yōka-machi, Yamagata City
The brand name Otokoyama comes from the old name for Iwashimizu Hachimangū Shrine in Kyoto. The pilgrims and travvelers on Ushū Kaidō highway were Otokoyama's early customers since 1789. Many fans love Otokoyama for its clear water quality and dry taste.
